Suspicious fire destroys Westside home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The State Fire Marshal said it is investigating the cause of a suspicious fire that destroyed a Westside home early Friday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, neighbors saw smoke and called 911 about 2:15 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they saw a two-story home fully engulfed in fire at 6510 Townsend Road, near Blanding Boulevard.

JFRD said the home was abandoned and no one was inside or hurt during the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
