JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman who pleaded guilty to burning a 3-year-old girl's hand with scalding water and received no jail time for it was arrested again Tuesday for violating her probation.
Prosecutors said Nicole Brown was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.

Earlier this year, Brown was sentenced to probation and community service in the child abuse case in which she scaled the hand of her then-girlfriend's daughter, Nia'Miah Melton (pictured).
The state attorney's office was seeking a five-year sentence, which guidelines suggest. It is appealing the sentence Judge Suzanne Bass handed down.
In a transcript of the sentencing, Bass said, "The defendant is remorseful for the child's injury, as it happened under her supervision. Having observed her demeanor, the court perceives defendant's remorse as genuine."
Other factors Bass cited in sentencing include the way Brown committed the crime. Bass said "the offense (was) not a result of planning or careful forethought, it was isolated." Bass also said that Brown had no prior criminal record.
