CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Two women arrested Monday in connection with the meth lab raid in which a Clay County deputy was shot and killed in February had a confrontation with Channel 4's Jim Piggott earlier this month.
Jennifer Alder, 38, and Chasity Prescott, 35, both of Middleburg, are now facing first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Detective David White, among other charges.
They were upset to see Piggott at an Orange Park home April 5, and they shouted profanities at him and his photographer.
Ryan Wilder, 30, of Orange Park, who's also charged with first-degree murder in White's killing, was arrested on charges of possessing and manufacturing methamphetamine the day Piggott showed up.
"They took him. That was my (expletive) brother they took this morning," one of the women said, referring to deputies. "They killed my man" -- "and my uncle," the second woman added.
Ted Tilley, 36, the suspected gunman who investigators said killed White and shot Detective Matt Hanlin, was shot and killed by other deputies the night of the raid.
Piggott continued to question the women the day he saw them.
"I was (expletive) there last night. How about that one?" one woman said.
Deputies said they followed Wilder back to a home on Fox Valley Drive after watching him buy ingredients used to make meth at several drug stores.
Authorities obtained a long-awaited warrant Monday connecting Wilder to the shootings of the two deputies, charging him with murder.
"We kept pretty close tabs on them the entire time, and it made it fairly easy to locate them when the warrants were actually signed and take them down," Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said.
"So you guys were there involved on Alligator (Boulevard)?" Piggott asked the women regarding the meth lab raid and deputy killing.
"Yeah, I was right there," the woman said. "They shot him. He was an unarmed man and they shot him."
Investigators said Alder and Prescott were inside the house the night White was killed. They were arrested Monday.
Prescott's son, 16-year-old Jerry Daniels, and Wilder were already in jail on drug charges. They're also charged with murder.
"He was continuing making meth and buying the listed chemicals to make meth after the incident," Lt. Barry Abromawitz said of Wilder.
It has been a long couple of months for the Clay County Sheriff's Office, family and friends of White, but Beseler said Monday's additional arrests and charges brings some relief.
"Jennifer White (David White's wife) is so appreciative of all the support that has come from the community and the Sheriff's Office and is grateful to know the people who are ultimately responsible for her husband's death are now going to be held accountable," Beseler said.
All four suspects are being held in the Clay County jail without bail.
At least three of them will make their first appearance in court at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
