Man survives gunshot wound to the head

The man suffered series injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot early Sunday morning at a Southside condominium complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police called at 1:45 a.m. to a shooting at the South Brook Condominiums, on El Prado Road just off Beach Boulevard, found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

News4Jax spoke with Dale Beard who’s lived in the same building where the man was shot for the last four years. He said he stunned to hear what happened.

“Just to see basically all that blood on the concrete and everything is just really shocking,” Beard said.

Beard formerly worked security for the condominium before management changed. Neighbors told News4Jax that they are unhappy with the management change. They say security is lax compared to what it used to be, especially at the front gate.

“Many people want to see it like before,” South Brook resident Izet Mujakic said. “Everybody is worried about this.”

Beard on the other hand, said he’s not sure if security would have made a difference in this case, calling the shooting “an isolated incident.”

“That necessarily wouldn't even prevent this, because if someone's going to do something, they're going to do it, if they feel like it's worth it,” Beard said.

News4Jax spoke to the landlord of the condos, who said he’s changing the locks.

Police said the man, who has not been identified, told officers he didn't know had shot him.

Detectives spent the night looking for evidence and looking for potential witnesses.
