A new study is shedding light on teens and Facebook.

The Huffington Post and Yahoo! report a study by iStrategy Labs reveals the number of teenagers on Facebook has declined over the past couple of years.

The study was conducted over the last three years, studying the numbers of how many people have a Facebook.  iStrategy Labs study found since 2011 more than three million teenagers, ages 13 to 17, left Facebook.

Facebook also saw a loss when it came young adults aged 18 to 24.  Three million young adults also left leaving Facebook with a drop of Facebook memberships of more than 30 percent of young users.

Though Facebook saw a decline in young users the social media site saw an increase with the older community, thus leading to an overall 23 percent membership increase for those in the United States.
