New Glynn County superintendent selected

Dr. Virgil Cole is former police officer

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – The Glynn County School System has selected Dr. Virgil Cole as its new superintendent after a four-month national search.

The school system made the announcement at a special meeting of the board on June 29.

Cole has worked in education for 20 years, including holding the most recent position as the assistant superintendent of administrative services for the Henry County schools in Georgia. Before his career in education, Cole was a police officer and D.A.R.E instructor in Conyers, Georgia. 

“We’re just very blessed and thankful to be here in Glynn County," Cole said at the meeting.  "I am looking forward to getting to know everyone in the community and to working with the wonderful team here to make Glynn County the best school system not only in our district but in the state."

Cole earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Georgia and completed his master's, specialist and doctorate degrees in education leadership from Georgia State University.
