JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man found shot and killed Sunday morning on a sidewalk in Northwest Jacksonville has been identified, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The man was 20-year-old Jeremiah White.

Police were called around 8 a.m. to Talladega Road and Spellman Road.

Residents in the area said they heard gunshots the night before, but didn't see anything when they looked outside, so they weren't alerted to anything, police said.

“This (is) just the norm around here," a neighbor said. “Everybody stays to their self. Nobody says nothing, and that’s how it usually be. Because, you know, it’s a lot of retaliation. They afraid to talk."

Police said White's body wasn't found until Sunday morning, when a resident saw him on the sidewalk on Talladega Road.

Police continue to investigate and have no suspects.
