Teen in Westside park shot in drive-by, police say

16-year-old was with other teens when shot by someone in white Impala

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 16-year-old with a group of other teenagers in a park near the intersection of Beaver Street and McDuff Avenue was shot in the abdomen Friday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in Westbrook Park. No one else was injured.

Police were told by witnesses the shots came from a white Chevrolet Impala, but there was no description of who fired the shot.

Detectives and officers were looking for evidence and other witnesses to help them find out who fired the shots.

Shortly after, about 4 p.m., shots were fired into a nearby home on Concord Circle.

The person who lives there told News4Jax that two people were home at the time, but no one was injured.

It's unknown whether the two incidents are related.
