This week’s occasion will mark the 24th large-scale pet adoption event hosted by regional animal welfare leader First Coast No More Homeless Pets, according to a news release from the group.

Over the past five years, more than 14,500 dogs and cats have found new homes at the event.

There are some changes this year. For the first time ever, doors will open on a Thursday, with weekday hours running from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday.

The event wraps up Saturday after going from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This is sponsored by the Petco Foundation. Free adoptions will be offered to active and retired military members.

Fourteen animal welfare agencies from across the region will participate, as well as the St. Tammany Humane Society from southern Louisiana, which will again make the trip so that its dogs can find new homes in northeast Florida.
