Roaches force Gainesville restaurant to close 2nd time in 3 months

Restaurant Report Card for the week

GAINESVILLE, Fla – There were several restaurants that had a number of violations, but one is dealing with a second closure in less than three months.

Mother's Pub in Gainesville was shut down for a few hours last week because of roaches. Three bugs were found behind the glass door in the reach in cooler and a dozen roaches were under the milk crate between the kitchen and the bar. It was the only high-priority violation that inspectors found, but the inspector wrote it was a repeat violation.

Mother's Pub was checked later that same day and it was allowed to reopen. It was also shut down overnight back in September because of bugs in the same area.

Wok N Roll on Palm Valley Road in Ponte Vedra Beach had six high priority violations last week.  The inspector wrote that a worker went to the bathroom, didn't wash his hands and started prepping food. The inspector also found raw pork was stored over onions.

The next day the inspector came back and cleared the Wok N Roll with zero violations.

Sliders Seaside Grill in Fernandina Beach had 10 high-priority violations. The sanitizing solution for the dishwasher wasn't strong enough to clean the dishes. Food was also found at a dangerous temperature and there were flies in the kitchen.

The inspector came back the next day and didn't find any high-priority violations. Inspectors do still need to follow up because of renovations being made that weren't yet approved.
