What do you see as the top three issues in this race?

  • A balanced, efficient, and transparent budget.
  • High quality principals and teachers.
  • Educating the whole child. Increasing student proficiency in critical math and reading skills, and the graduation rate.

  • Why should people vote for you?

My 25-year record of involvement with programs that successfully improved public education is unmatched. I am the only candidate prepared and able to work full time for better schools. I have been a long standing participant of community discussions and initiatives to improve education. Prior service to the community through Leadership Jacksonville, Project Blue Print for Prosperity for Jacksonville, Jacksonville Public Education Fund delegate for the One X One survey, and 20+ years service on the board of United Way Agency, The Bridge of Northeast Florida.

What do you hope to be remembered for after you leave office?

I hope to be remembered for having been instrumental in addressing budgetary shortfalls and eliminating inefficient budget expenditures, for supporting the hiring and retention of quality principals and teachers, for increasing the graduation rate in the district, and for improving communication and community involvement.
