(CNN) - R. Kelly had been silent on Twitter for months, but returned late Tuesday with a special message.
The singer, who is currently plagued by legal issues and sexual misconduct allegations, tweeted a video of himself singing happy birthday to his daughter, Joann.
"Happy birthday baby, daddy love you," Kelly said in the video. "No matter what I love you so much. MWAH."
He was indicted last month on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse -- a class 2 felony -- involving four alleged victims.
The indictment accuses Kelly of sexual acts with three children older than 13 but younger than 17. There is no age range listed for one of the alleged victims, but the prosecutor has said she was 24 at the time of the alleged misconduct. The charges say Kelly used force or the threat of force against her.
He was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008.
In January Lifetime aired "Surviving R. Kelly" which chronicled decades of allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse lodged against the singer stemming from his relationships with young girls and women.
Kelly has consistently denied any allegations of wrongdoing and abuse.
Following the airing of the docuseries his daughter Joann, who goes by the name Buku Abi, posted a lengthy statement on her Instagram stories.
"I pray for all the families & women who have been affected by my father's actions," the note said. "Trust, I have been deeply affected by all of this."
She also said she has been estranged from her father for a while.
"The same monster you all confronting me about is my father," Abi wrote. "I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house."
Abi is one of three children born to Kelly and his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, who also appeared in the docuseries and shared her allegations of having been abused by him.
Kelly was recently jailed twice in a case involving what authorities said was failure to pay his ex-wife child support of $161,000.
He is currently free on bail in that case.
On Tuesday, Abi posted on her Instagram account in celebration of her 21st birthday.
