A man who escaped an Oklahoma prison in 1981 was found by police after his mother died and her obituary listed him as her son.

Police say Stephen Michael Paris, 58, was arrested in Houston Thursday after police tracked him down with the obituary's help. According to The Associated Press, the woman's obit listed a son named Stephen Chavez, which is the same alias Paris used while working in the Houston area.

Paris was brought into custody where his fingerprints were taken and subsequently confirmed his identity.

Paris escaped from Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma after serving 19 months of a nine-year sentence for drug possession and distribution.
