JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A woman shot Monday night near the McDonald's on University Boulevard in Arlington 9:40 p.m. died and Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center and homicide detectives are trying to find how who killed her.

Jacksonville police said patrol officers investigating a report of gunfire about 9:40 p.m. in the parking lot in the 900 block of University Boulevard North didn't find a victim, but friends brought a woman with a gunshot wound to the hospital a short time later.  Doctors said the woman was dead.

Police said the shots followed an argument in the parking lot next to the McDonald's.
"There was some type of verbal altercation, the witnesses heard a shot, and then we had a victim show up at Shands," Sgt. Jay Farhat said.

The victim has not been identified, but police are hoping to get more information from the people who drove her to the hospital.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
