From your pantry to your plants, several items around your home could be hidden dangers for your pets.
Last year, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control saw a 22% jump in its number of calls.
Aside from medications, human food and chocolate were the top reasons for calls to the Animal Poison Control Center.
The most common food cases involved protein bars and shakes, garlic, onions, grapes and raisins.
Protein, garlic and onions can cause stomach issues.
Grapes and raisins can lead to kidney failure.
The line also gets about 103 cases of chocolate ingestion a day. That averages out to about one every 15 minutes.
About 10% of the calls are related to animals eating indoor and outdoor plants.
The most poisonous plants for your pets are sago palm, lilies, tulips and azaleas.

If your pets do eat something dangerous, the best plan of action is to call your pet’s vet immediately.
Depending on the toxin, it could take up to 20 minutes or more for a reaction.
It doesn’t hurt to save a piece of what your animal ate for your vet to help them identify the toxin they’re dealing with.
