JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Children lined up for toys and games at Wayman Temple – West Campus Saturday.
Pastor Mark L. Griffin and members of the church hosted the Ninth Annual Community Christmas Fellowship and presented their Christmas play.
Children, teens and adults in the Eureka Garden Apartment Complex and surrounding neighborhoods also received gifts such as toys, books, tablets, televisions and bicycles.
There were a few surprises. Pastor Griffin handed the keys to a 2002 Honda Accord to Tracy Grant, a resident at Eureka Gardens.
“This is awesome. I’m in shock. I can now get where I need to without sitting and waiting,” said Grant. “I no longer have to rent a U-Haul to go wash clothes or go grocery shopping.”
Grant’s six-year-old daughter, NyAsia, jumped up and down when she saw the car. “We don’t need to walk anymore,” she excitedly told her mother.
Members of Wayman Temple also gave a thousand dollars to a member of the church. “This is a special time of year. Our ministry loves to give. Every time we give, God gives back to us,” said Griffin.
