JACKSONVILLE, Fla.The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens for two days provided care for a 5-day-old female baby otter.

Officials at the zoo said baby otters don't learn to swim until they are about 2-months-old when their mother pushes them into the water.

It's unknown how the otter ended up on the road.

JZG treated the otter until it was stabilized and has since sent the baby otter to a wildlife rehabilitation facility.

The baby otter will not be returning to JZG.
