GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Drivers in Gainesville got a sweet surprise after being pulled over for speeding by police on Valentine’s Day.
The Gainesville Police Department decided to give speeders a break on the day of love, by giving out candy instead of traffic citations.

Operation Sweet Fines for Valentines was conducted by Corporal White and Officers Franklin, Rodonis and Bunevich in East Gainesville.
Officers said they still made sure to inform the drivers of why they were pulled over and stressed the importance of obeying traffic laws to prevent car crashes.
