Local women were given thank-you cards and recognized at the event as a way for their friends and family members to honor them.

The event also included music played by a local jazz artist.

Sharon Coon, the organizer of the event and founder of Friends of Brentwood Library, made a point of including children in the event.

She had them help cook the hors d’oeuvres and set the tables to help them understand what many women in their lives do for them every day.

FOBL is a nonprofit organization and its mission is to serve as an advocate for the Brentwood Public Library.
