City, Jaguars help veterans charities

A $55,000 donation was announced to support veterans and military families.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Local veterans are getting the help they need with the help of the city of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars announced a donation of $55,000 to several charities that help veterans Wednesday afternoon.

Some of those organizations included K9s for Warriors, Five Star Veteran Center, Florida National Guard Foundation and Generation W.

The $55,000 donation is part of a pledge from the Jags to give $1,000,000  to those organizations to help the city support veterans and military families.

This is the third year the Jaguars have funded these community grants.

This grant provides support for veterans transitioning back into civilian life facing challenges ranging from getting a job, re-establishing healthy family relationships, accessing earned benefits and the readjustment to a new environment.
