Quilts will be used for children in crisis situations

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Members of Community Threads of Northeast Florida delivered more than a dozen hand-made quilts to the Green Cove Springs Clay County Sheriff’s Office Monday.

The donated blankets will be used by the victim advocates, deputies and detectives who often encounter children in crisis situations.

Volunteers from Community Threads (many of whom are retired educators, retired military and other professionals from Clay County) created and donated similar blankets to local cancer patients and veterans groups in the past.

In addition to creating hand-made quilts, Community Threads creates hand-made pet beds for Clay County animal shelters.

The group meets on the first and third Monday of each month.

Community Threads welcomes donations of materials or yarn.
