JSO Officers save trapped ducklings on Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A quackin' good time turned into panic for one mother, after her seven babies fell into a storm drain. 

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reunited seven ducklings with their mothers Sunday, after they fell into a storm drain near Maggiano's at the Town Center.

Officer Sowell and Officer Rollo arrived after they received a "duck in distress call."  Shoppers at the St. Johns Town Center say the "regular" mall duck's babies fell far from reach, so she started squawking for help.

Officers pried open the drain and started carefully picking up the ducklings.

Thanks to quick thinking by JSO, mama duck and her babies are safely reunited!
