Holiday Book Drive raises money for charity

Sheriff Mike Williams read to children Tuesday to kick off the Holiday Book Drive at the St. Johns Town Center Barnes & Noble

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sheriff Mike Williams read at story time on Tuesday at the St. Johns Town Center Barnes & Noble store to kick off the Holiday Book Drive, which runs now through the end of December, to benefit the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville Inc.

During the holiday book drive, Jacksonville Barnes & Noble customers will have the option to purchase books in the checkout line to benefit the children served by JaxPAL. The books donated will be gifted to the nearly 400 children that attend JaxPAL’s Youth Education and Success Afterschool Program. In addition, a portion of the donated books will be added to JaxPAL’s libraries at each of its four community-based centers.
