Winners from National Philanthropy Day luncheon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Some of Jacksonville’s biggest hearts and hardest workers were celebrated Friday at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon and awards program at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Florida First Coast Chapter honored the recipients of nine prestigious awards.

Bob Shircliff accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award from AFP. He was nominated by St. Vincent’s Healthcare Foundation, Jacksonville University, The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, Guardian Catholic Schools and the Jacksonville Symphony.

Shircliff has spent nearly 50 years in Jacksonville, and touched thousands of lives.

“More than 50 percent of Bob’s time is devoted to philanthropic causes throughout our community… He leads campaigns, makes solicitation calls, invests his time in the selection of leadership staff, sponsors events and serves as a trusted adviser for many of the community’s nonprofit leaders," AFP said.

AFP honored David and Linda Stein for their work as outstanding philanthropists.

In eyes of the judges, the Steins, who were nominated by United Way of Northeast Florida, “exemplify philanthropy in our community through their exceptional generosity, civic engagement and helping to develop the next generation of philanthropists.” They created a program called “The Stein Fellowship” to assist in the development and success of young people.

“The Stein Fellowship is now a premier multi-generational program which is designed to identify and help shape the next generation of community leaders for our area,” according to the event’s award summary.

Tom Petway accepted the award for Outstanding Foundation. The Petway Family Foundation has been instrumental in the growth of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida during the last 27 years.

Florida Blue was named Outstanding Corporation, having raised more than $2 million through United Way in their campaign locally. 

The Bailey Group, led by President Mark Bailey and his wife, Alecia, won as Outstanding Small Business and helped raise $5 million to build a hospice and palliative-inpatient center in St. Johns County. 

Stanton Cadow received recognition as Outstanding Fundraising Professional for his work as the executive director of Catholic Foundation.

Other winners included Arlington Rotary Club as Outstanding Civic Organization, ENACTUS, Flagler College with the Next Generation Award and Richard L. Sisisky as Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser.
