Event honors surviving family members of fallen heroes

Fallen Heroes Tribute and Stampede held Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A tribute was held Saturday at the Diamond D Horse Ranch to honor surviving family members of the U.S. armed services.

The Florida National Guard’s survivor outreach services, along with Malik’s Gifts and Helping Hands for Freedom, hosted the Fallen Heroes Tribute and Stampede, honoring surviving military family members.

The organizers said the event was created to connect families and establish a support network to help them cope with the loss of a family member and honor their sacrifice.

About 200 families attended the event at the Diamond D Horse Ranch on Solomon Road.

A memorial service was held and a special area for person tributes was set up, where families had memorabilia displayed throughout the day.

There were multiple attractions at the ranch, including, a pony carousel, wagon rides, a dixie cartwheel, a bounce house and catch-and-release fishing.
