WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 8-year-old award winning co-author Natalie McGriff of “The Adventures of Moxie McGriff” has been invited to attend The White House Summit on the United State of Women for her efforts to empower and promote literacy amongst girls of color. The Summit will be held on June 14th, 2016.
Natalie co-wrote the comic with her mother due to Natalie hating her natural hair, the color of her skin and her disdain for reading.
After writing the comic, in which the heroine (based on Natalie) gains superpowers in her, Natalie realized the power and beauty in being unique and loving yourself. She now enjoys reading and traveling the country to promote literacy and self-love to other young children.
In addition to attending the United State of Women Summit, Natalie's book is currently being produced into an animated series by a team in Los Angeles and is expected to be released in late 2016.
