JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Thousands of stuffed animals were handed out Friday at Wolfson Children's Hospital.
Kids at Wolfson Children's Hospital will receive toy dogs, cats and bunnies during their stay at the hospital. PetSmart has partnered with Wolfson to supply more than 3,000 stuffed animals to patients for the entire year.
It goes with the hospital's pet therapy program.
The donation has a special connection.
"This means a lot to me personally," PetSmart manager Michael Faulk said. "My first child was here two months after he was born, hospitalized, and it was about 10 years ago, and I have a personal connection to this hospital. I've learned a lot about this hospital in the last 10 or 11 years now. Great for Jacksonville. Great partnership. We love being partners with Wolfson Children's Hospital."
"This is incredible. We're so thankful for our friends at PetSmart, and all the customers that visit the stores and that are so generous with their donations," said Jeannie Poon, director of volunteers at Wolfson. "These stuffed animals just bring smiles to all of our patients and we're so very thankful."
Wolfson's leaders also said they are grateful for the donations from PetSmart and its customers.
