Ponte Vedra falls in 5A title game

The Sharks finish the season at 21-9

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Ponte Vedra could not overcome the power of Plantation American Heritage in the Class 5A championship game, losing 9-0 Friday night.

The Patriots Zack Collins' grand slam in the 3rd inning was one of two home runs for American Heritage in the game.  Esteban Puerta hit a 2-run blast in a 4-run 5th inning for the Patriots.

Friday's game was only the second playoff game that did not go into extra innings for the Sharks, but a rain and lightning delay of more than two hours made the game seem as long.

Ponte Vedra finished the season at 21-9.
