Jaguar to watch wife compete in Olympics

Aaron Ross to miss some of training camp to head to London

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 2012 Summer Olympics kick off Friday night, coincidentally the same day the Jacksonville Jaguars begin training camp.

Normally that wouldn't mean much, but one Jag will miss some of camp to head to London.

Cornerback Aaron Ross isn't competing in the Games, but his wife, Sanya Richards-Ross, is a runner and will be in action overseas.

When the Jaguars' newcomer reported for camp Thursday, he talked about his excitement.

"Getting better each week," Ross said of his wife. "Each week she performs, she seems like she's getting better and more confidence. I'm pretty excited about getting up there and watching her."

Ross, a Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants, won't return to Jacksonville until Aug. 6, but he said he talked to coaches about going easy on him.
