Gators advance to first NCAA Final Four appearance since 2007

MEMPHIS, TN – The No. 1 overall seed punched the first ticket to the Final Four as Florida topped Dayton 62-52 in the south regional final on Saturday night.

SEC player of the year Scottie Wilbekin led the way with 23 points, including 14 in the first half as the Gators built a 14-point halftime lead.

Jacksonville native Patric Young rebounded from an off-night on Thursday and scored 12 points to go along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Florida won its 30th consecutive game and improved to 36-2, topping the 35 wins by the 2007 national championship squad.

Forward Will Yeguete cuts part of the net after Florida won the South regional final gameagainst Dayton at the NCAA college basketball tournament.

"I couldn't be prouder and happier," Florida coach Billy Donovan said after being drenched with water in the Gators' locker room.

This is Florida's first appearance in the Final Four since 2007, when the Gators won their second straight national championship.

The Gators await the winner of Michigan State and Connecticut.
