Harvest reaps easy victory over Christ's Church

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five players scored touchdowns for Harvest Community as the Warriors romped to a 42-21 victory over Christ's Church Academy at Greenland Park in Mandarin.

"It wasn't as good as we thought it was. It looked that way. But we got a lot of work to do. But we're going to do what we have to do," Warriors coach Lonnie Marts said. "We could have done a lot better. I'm always hard on them."

Senior captain Cody Vining led the charge for Harvest (2-3) with a touchdown run in the second quarter and another in the final minute of the game. He also had a huge run in the third quarter to set up a score from Gavin Marts.

Senior captain Bradley Bellingrath started the scoring for the Warriors on their opening drive.

Harvest also took advantage of three turnovers by Christ's Church (0-6) in the first half. Senior captain Grant Fairchild recovered one of those, and sophomore Justin Drost followed with a 19-yard touchdown run to give Harvest a 14-0 lead.

The Warriors led 28-7 at the half, but Christ's Church scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to cut the lead.

In the first half, quick reaction by the Eagles' special teams got them on the board. The ball grazed the foot of a Harvest player on a punt, and freshman John Gullet picked it up and ran it in for the TD.
