Stallions ride Wakefield to win over Episcopal

Providence locks up playoff spot with 34-7 victory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Workhorse junior running back Jamauri Wakefield carried Providence to a 34-7 victory over host Episcopal on Friday, locking up a playoff berth for the Stallions.

Wakefield ran for more than 300 yards on more than 30 carries and finished with four touchdowns, including a 56-yarder.

Providence (7-1, 1-0) will have a bye week next week before facing District 1-3A foe Trinity Christian on Oct. 30 and then Tallahassee Leon to end the regular season.

"We got some bumps and bruises, and we got to be smart with some kids," Providence coach Jeff Kopp said. "We know what's coming down for us. We got two extremely talented teams that we're playing. We're not looking past anything at all by any means."

Wakefield scored on runs of 44, 18, 56 and 9 yards.

Providence also got a touchdown from sophomore Adam Boselli, who took a 24-yard pass from freshman Carter Bradley in for the score to give the Stallions a 27-0 lead in the third quarter. Boselli is the son of former Jaguar Tony Boselli and Bradley is the son of current Jaguars coach Gus Bradley.

There was also some Jaguar pride on the opposing side Friday. Sophomore Joseph Brunell, son of Episcopal coach and former Jaguars QB Mark Brunell, led the offense for the Eagles (5-2, 0-2).

Joseph Brunell threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to sophomore A.J. Wooten in the fourth quarter for Episcopal's lone score.

Providence senior Kenneth Coleman had two interceptions in the game.
