Dante Fowler meets with local media

The Jaguars number one pick in the 2015 NFL Draft will wear jersey number 56

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Third overall pick Dante Fowler, joined by his parents, head coach Gus Bradley, and General Manager Dave Caldwell, held up his number 56 jersey, saying he chose that number because he always liked Reggie Bush, who wore #5, and former Jaguar Greg Jones, who wore #6 in college.

"I can't believe this is my NFL jersey! This is really cool." Fowler said as he held up the jersey.

Fowler said that this is the spot he wanted to end up in the draft, just a short drive from St. Petersburg where he grew up and Gainesville where he went to college.
The whirlwind 72 hours for Fowler has been an experience he says he has always dreamed of and worked hard for. He was glad to have his parents by his side throughout the NFL Draft week as he says they had a huge part in this.

When he finally gets on the field, Fowler says he brings a skill set that involves hard work and a lot of time studying film and the playbook to outwork his opponents. One thing he says he needs to keep working on is his nutrition. He says he wants to be able to stay healthy and always be on the field to make an impact on the game.
The former Gator says that it is going to be a lot of fun to play his home games on the same field where he has so many memories from his time at UF, taking on Georgia each year at Everbank Field.

Former Florida Gators Josh Evans and Fred Taylor have already told Fowler what to expect in Jacksonville from the fans. Fowler says he has received a lot of social media messages from fans welcoming him to the city and can't wait to get out on the field and show them that he can be a difference maker on the field.

The Jaguars will finish up their 2015 NFL Draft with rounds 4 through 7.

T.J. Yeldon and A.J. Cann in rounds 2 and 3 of the Draft on Friday.
