Enemy Intel: Texans stick with Mallett

Mallett was benched against the Falcons in favor of Brian Hoyer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Houston Texans can't afford to have a hangover from Sunday's 48-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. In just three days they'll be back on the field for a Thursday night match up against the Indianapolis Colts.

Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett struggled mightily against the Falcons, completing just 12-of-27 passes for 150 yards and an interception. With Houston trailing 42-0, head coach Bill O'Brien benched Mallett in favor of Brian Hoyer. Hoyer started the season opener before being replaced by Mallett for the past three games.

O'Brien said he needed to review the film before deciding on a starter against the Colts. Less than 24 hours later he's come to a decision.

Notice that O'Brien based his decision on the short week. If Mallett struggles early against the Colts, don't be surprised to see him call on Hoyer once again.

The Jaguars and Texans both have a 1-3 record and will meet in Week 6.
