Sharks exercise option for three rookies

Reid, Gordon, and Haggerty all added to 2016 roster

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After falling one win short of an Arena Bowl Championship the Jacksonville Sharks have already begun preparation for the 2016 season. On Tuesday the team exercised one-year rookie options for defensive back Greg Reid, Mac linebacker Jimmy Gordon and wide receiver Johnathan Haggerty.

Reid was the 2015 AFL Rookie of the Year, leading the Sharks in interceptions (9) and pass breakups (21). He also recorded 70.5 tackles to go along with a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Reid also led all AFL players with 150 interception return yards, and finished third in the League with an average of 2.5 passes defended per game.

Gordon joined the Sharks partway through the 2015 season, starting at Mac linebacker in all five games in which he played. He recorded a total of 6.5 tackles and recovered two fumbles.

Haggerty was also a midseason addition. In four games he totaled two receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown.
