Howe ends HS career just like he started it

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hussein Howe ended his high school career exactly like he started it – hoisting the Class 2A Florida state championship trophy. Howe ran for 191 yards and five touchdowns as University Christian dominated Cambridge Christian 61-16 on Friday afternoon.

“We played UC ball, bully ball” said coach David Penland whose team racked up 412 yards rushing. “When you have a running back like Hussein (Howe) and Otis (Anderson) it’s hard to stop somebody. We’ve got a good offensive line and they gave them creases and they made big plays.”

In the win Howe surpassed the 5000 career rushing mark in addition to racking up over 70 career touchdowns.

“It means a lot,” said Howe. “I worked hard over the off-season. My offensive line played great, without them I wouldn’t be able to do this. I give it all to them.”

University Christian has now won eight state titles. Following the win Penland issued a challenge to all of the underclassman. “Get a good taste of this experience because it’s now on you to keep this legacy going.”
