Hasselbeck not sure on status vs. Jaguars

40-yeard old QB dealing with neck and shoulder injury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Taking hits comes with the job description of playing quarterback in the NFL. Those bumps and bruises tend to heal slower when the person under center is 40-years-old. That’s exactly what the Indianapolis Colts are facing with Matt Hasselbeck.

In Sunday’s 45-10 loss to the Steelers, Hasselbeck was knocked out of the game with neck and shoulder injuries. He’s not sure about his availability for week 14 against the Jaguars.

“I don’t know about that yet,” Hasselbeck said to Colts.com. “I would hope that I could (play).”

In back up duty against the Steelers Charlie Whitehurst passed for 51 yards on 4-of-8 passing and was sacked three times. If Hasselbeck is unable to play in Jacksonville on Sunday Whitehurst would likely make the 10th start of his career.

Starting quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to make his return from a kidney injury in week 15.
