Suns announce 2016 season schedule
The Suns will open the season on Aprill 7th at 7PM
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The countdown to a new era of affordable family fun at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville is now precise to the minute, as the Jacksonville Suns announced starting times for their 70 home games in 2016. Thursday, April 7, at 7:05 p.m., marks the start of the regular season for the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Half (35) of the Suns' 70 home games are scheduled for Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights. Beginning with opening weekend April 7, all 13 Thirsty Thursday and 11 Fireworks Friday games will begin at 7:05 p.m. All 11 Giveaway Saturday home games will begin at 6:05 p.m. to accommodate families' weekend schedules.
"The new era at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville is focused on affordable family fun," said Suns General Manager Harold Craw. "With Saturday games one hour earlier, families can plan their weekends more comfortably, collect a giveaway and enjoy Saturday night dinner, entertainment and fun for an outstanding value at the ballpark!"
Sunday home games will begin at 3:05 p.m., with exceptions on Sunday, April 17 (5:05 p.m.) and on holiday weekends, when fireworks will follow 6:05 p.m. games Sunday, July 3, for the Independence Day Celebration and Sunday, Sept. 4, for Fan Appreciation Night.
Regular weekday games will begin at 7:05 p.m. The Suns will play three Wednesday day games, including an 11:05 a.m. start on Education Day April 20, a noon start for a Business Person Special May 18, and a noon start for June 29. The regular season finale on Labor Day, Sept. 5, will begin at 2:05 p.m.
