UNF will face Florida in 1st round of NIT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The selection show for the NIT got started at 8:30 p.m. and they saved the best for last. The UNF Osprey’s were the last team to see their name pop up on the board. On Tuesday night they’ll be facing the Florida Gators. Due to construction on the O’Connell Center in Gainesville, the game will be played here in Jackson at the UNF Arena.

Osprey’s head coach Matthew Driscoll was was kind enough to invite us over to his house for the Osprey's watch party. You could tell by the atmosphere inside his living room that this isn't a team that was feeling sorry for itself after getting bounced out of the A-Sun tournament in the semifinals.

They’ve spent the past week practicing and trying to stay sharp for this opportunity, but coach Driscoll admits there’s only so much you can get accomplished playing against yourself.

“There’s some things you just can’t simulate and our guys will be prepared,” said Driscoll. “We’re the tenth most experienced team in America. We’re back to back champs in the A-Sun so you can bet the Birds of Trey will be ready on Tuesday night.”
