Dolphins will face S. Carolina in 1st round of NCAA tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – “No ceilings.” That's the phrase that Jacksonville University head women's basketball coach Yolett McPhee McCuin has built her program on. When she arrived three years ago getting to the tournament was her No. 1 goal.

After beating Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, The Dolphins clinched the Atlantic Sun's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, and drew No. 1 South Carolina in the first round Monday night.

They will face the Southeastern Conference (SEC) champions in Columbia, S.C. Friday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The Gamecocks clinched the SEC title right here in Jacksonville and coach McPhee-McCuin and her team were in the stands to watch. South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley is a mentor to coach Yo and she’s excited about this huge opportunity for her team.

"We drew the No. 1 seed, and will play in front of 16,000 fans with great media coverage," said McPhee-McCuin. "We're excited! Our girls are going to come out and play hard, and represent the program as best possible."
