Suns introduce new flavors this year at the Baseball Grounds

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – When you go to the "Ol' Ballgame" there's nothing like peanuts and Cracker Jack's.  As the new ownership of the Jacksonville Suns begin their first season at the Baseball Grounds, they have those classic items and recently introduced many more soon-to-be classics.

New Suns owner Ken Babby has not been shy to put his stamp his new franchise.  He has already introduced new entertainment areas such as the Tiki Bar in left field and a new Bullpen Terrace as well as giving the sky box suites a makeover.  Babby also changed the signage for the concession stands on the concourse and now, he and his team are introducing new food items in those stands.

Suns General Manager of Food and Beverage Mary Nixon says the hard part for the fans is deciding what to try first, "It's impossible to try all the new items in one night," Nixon says.  "They are going to want to come back to try different things."

One item that is anticipated to be a best seller are the chicken bites in a waffle cone, featured at Southern Fried FreeBird behind home plate.  It is buffalo chicken nuggets inside a crispy waffle cone.

A $2 hot dog is something that Babby said will always be available at the ball park.  If you want to spice up a regular dog a little, the Suns are now offering a Philly Dog which has cheese with peppers and onions on top.  Also, there is the Slaw Dog which features a hot dog covered in BBQ pulled pork and cole slaw.  Both are available in the dugout box seats and at a specialty cart on the concourse.

The first chance for fans to try all the new treats at the Baseball Grounds is April 7th for Opening Night.  First pitch against the Birmingham Barons is 7:05 PM.
