Ryan Murphy wins 200M backstroke final

Bolles graduate makes U.S. Olympic team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On Thursday night Ryan Murphy qualified for the Rio Olympics in the 100M backstroke at the Olympic Swimming Trials. Friday night he added another event to his Rio agenda, by winning the 200M backstroke final. 

The Bolles graduate was flying from the start in lane four. He was pretty much competing with himself down the stretch. Murphy finished with a time of 1:53:95. That's the second fastest time in the world this year.

Coming in second with a time of 1:54:77 was Murphy's Cal teammate Jacob Pebley. He will also represent team USA in Rio.
