JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Last weekend Bolles, Trinity Christian and Ponte Vedra all played for the state championship. Next year, all three will be part of a new look District 4-5A.

On Wednesday, the Florida High School Athletic Association announced its finalized districts and regions for the 2017-18 season. Those changes come along with a new playoff format that will be implemented next year.

In classes 5A-8A only the district champs will be guaranteed a playoff spot. The four remaining playoff spots will be selected by a points system.

Bolles and Trinity are historically two of the powerhouse programs in Jacksonville and have combined for 18 state championships. Ponte Vedra nearly came up with its first state championship, narrowly losing 35-33 to heavily favored American Heritage in last Friday’s 5A championship game.

Bishop Kenny, Westside and Parker are the remaining members of District 4-5A.
