JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One day after placing running back T.J. Yeldon on the season ending injured reserve list, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Joe Barnyard.
The fourth-year running back is no stranger to Jacksonville. He signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2012 played in five games for the club in 2015. The Sweetwater, Texas native was waived by Jacksonville this year prior to the start of OTAs and spent training camp and Week 1 of the regular season with New Orleans. He concluded his rookie campaign on Minnesota’s practice squad. He played in three games in 2013 and a career-high 15 games with the Vikings in 2014. His career totals include 21 rushes for 88 yards (4.2 rush avg.) and 10 receptions for 73 yards (7.3 rec. avg.).
Injuries have plagued the Jaguars running back group all season. Chris Ivory has missed four games this season for a variety of issues and could be out against the Colts due to a hamstring injury. Fellow running back Denard Robinson has missed the past three games due to an ankle injury, but is expected to return to practice this week.
