The Jacksonville Jaguars blew a 17-point lead and lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the season finale Sunday. The Jags finished 3-13 on the season.
The only good takeaway is that this season is finally over. It would be easy to talk about what wrong; turnovers, missed opportunities, blah, blah, blah. Same old story. I don’t want to write about it and nobody wants to read it anymore.

So let's not dwell on what is, now, thankfully, the past. Let’s talk about the future -- the immediate future. Who will be the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars? Great question. One that hopefully is answered soon.
Tom Coughlin is obviously a very good candidate. In fact, he's on the top of my list. He has plenty of head coaching experience with two Super Bowl championships. He knows how to build a football team and his style is exactly what the current Jaguar roster needs. The Jaguars have a wealth of young talent who would benefit from Tom's structure and demanding style. Sound familiar? In 1996, we had a number of young talented players that needed good coaching and an old-school approach to building a winning organization.
My guess is that most Jaguar fans would love to see him back as the head coach. It would be a good hire as long as Coughlin and Dave Caldwell find a way to work together. Coughlin is going to want to have the final say as far as the draft and free agency, and it’s hard to argue against that. He knows how to build a team and has earned the right to demand that power.
There will be a lot of names thrown out there in the next couple of weeks. Some will be very intriguing. Caldwell will get in front of some very qualified candidates. I find it hard to believe, however, that any will be as qualified as Tom Coughlin.
