JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars re-signed QB Chad Henne today.
Henne is considered a confidant and mentor for QB Blake Bortles, who struggled last season.
“With nine years of NFL experience, Chad has an abundance of knowledge in professional,” said Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone. “Chad provides leadership to our offensive meeting room.”
The Jaguars now have three quarterbacks under contract with Henne, Bortles and Brandon Allen.
Henne, 6-3, 222, has appeared in 65 career games with 53 starts since entering the league as a second round selection by Miami in 2008. After joining the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent in 2012, Henne has appeared in 29 games with 22 starts for the Jaguars over the last five seasons. In his career, Henne has completed 1,159 of 1,954 passes (59.3 comp. pct.) for 12,931 yards, 58 TDs and 63 INTs. Henne’s 5,817 passing yards, 513 completions and 27 TD passes with the Jaguars all rank fifth in team annals.
