UNF hosts JU to open ASUN tournament

Ospreys have won 8 straight vs. Dolphins

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The River City Rumble takes on added significance tonight as the University of North Florida hosts Jacksonville University in the first round of the ASUN conference men's basketball tournament at 7 p.m.

It's the third meeting between the Ospreys (13-18 overall; 8-6 in ASUN play) and Dolphins (17-14; 5-9) this season and the 28th meeting all-time.

UNF swept the regular season series and have won the last eight games played between the two schools, whose home gyms are just an 11 mile drive apart.

UNF earned the number three seed in the tournament with a 73-69 victory Thursday at UNF Arena behind a career high 20 points from Aaron Bodager and 25 points from two-time ASUN player of the year Dallas Moore. The Osprey's limited JU to 8-of-27 shooting on three point attempts.

"It is always a challenge to play a game like this against a team that shoot the ball as well as they can shoot it," said UNF head coach Matthew Driscoll. "I thought we did a good job of limiting their looks from the three-point arc for much of the game.

In the first meeting of the season between the teams, Moore scored 24 in an 80-64 victory at JU's Swisher Gymnasium in January.

JU's J.R. Holder was named second team all-conference last week. The Dolphins are looking for their first win in the conference tournament since 2010 when they beat the Ospreys in the quarterfinals.
