CORA Health debuts new Alter G Pro treadmill at River Run expo

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Do you want to get on the "biggest, baddest treadmill out there?" If you do, make your way to the River Run Runners Expo at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds this week.

CORA Health is debuting their new Alter G Pro treadmill starting today at their booth at the expo.  They are one of two places that have an Alter G Pro treadmill in the area.  In a regular Alter G, the treadmill's anti-gravity technology allows for weight reduction up to 80%.  In the new Alter G Pro, that weight reduction can go up to 20%.

Ronnie Cosse is the senior clinic manager at CORA Health and says that this allows runners to greatly reduce the impact on bones and joints, allowing them to train harder and more often.  "When these elite athletes are running 50 to 80 to 100 miles in a week, that is a ton of impact," says Cosse.  "So if we can do even one or two training runs at lower impact, they are going to be a lot more healthy and able to stay on the road."

One of those elite athletes benefiting from the Alter G Pro is local runner Carley Glasser.  She is running in this year's Gate River Run despite a torn tendon in her lower left leg.  She told us that training as hard as she needs to without the Alter G would be almost impossible.

"The machine will help me run at a lesser body weight," says Glasser.  "I can keep running without as much impact and hopefully even speed up my recovery."

Even though the Alter G Pro is geared to elite athletes, it is not exclusive for just them.  This week at the runners expo, CORA Health is allowing anyone to give it a try.  "We had the other Alter G here last year and they see this cool device and they are a little hesitant to get in it.  It looks like a spaceship almost, but if you want to run, you are welcome to give it try," says Cosse.

If you miss the Alter G Pro at the CORA booth, it will be at their Riverside location starting after the race.  For more information on CORA Health and their services, go to corahealth.com.

The Gate River Run Runners Expo is open Thursday from 11AM to 6PM, Friday from 11Am to 8PM and Saturday from 8:30AM to Noon.
