Bolles advances to state baseball title game with 2-1 over Pompano Beach

Bulldogs will face either Bishop Moore or Lemon Bay

FT. MYERS, Fla. – Sophomore left-handed pitcher Hunter Barco struck out five in seven innings of one-run baseball and drove in a run with a first inning double as Bolles clinched a spot in the the state 5A baseball championship game with a 2-1 win over Pompano Beach.

It's the 11th time school has reached the state baseball championship game.

The Bulldogs will face either Bishop Moore from Orlando or Englewood-Lemon Bay in the championship game on Thursday at 4:05 p.m. 

Bolles scored both of their runs in the first inning when the first two batters,juniors Max Ferguson and Austin Knight both reached. Senior Brendan O'Neil and Barco delivered RBIs to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Pompano Beach scored one in the bottom of the second on an Austin Carney RBI double that scored C Costello.

The Tornadoes threatened again in the 7th and final inning, but Barco was able to strand runners on second and third to clinch the victory.

Pitching dominated the game as Barco and Pompano Beach's Trevor Kniskern both tossed complete games. The two pitchers combined to surrender only seven hits in the game between them.
