Jumbo Shrimp will not host any playoff games due to Irma

The Southern League changed their playoff format and will name co-champions

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Due to the uncertainty of Hurricane Irma, the Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced on Wednesday that the 2017 BC® Powder Southern League Championship Series has been canceled. Each of the winners of the best-of-five North and South Division Series will be declared Co-Champions for the 2017 Southern League season. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp will not host any playoff games at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville but will play the Pensacola Blue Wahoos for a South Division title and Co-Championship of the Southern League.

In their inaugural season and playoff run are presented by Community First Credit Union, the Jumbo Shrimp were scheduled to host Games 3-5 of the South Division Series at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, but will no longer host due to the pending weather. Instead Jacksonville will be the home club for Game Three, and if necessary, Four and Five, in the following best-of-five South Division Series playoff schedule:

Game dates and times are subject to change based on weather and travel.

The Jumbo Shrimp front office, box office and Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville will be closed beginning noon Thursday until after Hurricane Irma passes the area. Office reopening will be posted at www.jaxshrimp.com.

Individual online ticket buyers for the originally scheduled first home playoff game on Friday, Sept. 8, will receive automatic refunds in the coming days. Other individual ticket buyers may obtain ticket refunds by presenting tickets at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville box office. Jumbo Shrimp ticket plan holders who purchased playoff ticket packages may obtain refunds or choose to have the purchase applied to a 2018 ticket plan by calling (904) 358-2846. Refunds or 2018 ticket plan deposits may be obtained when the Jumbo Shrimp office reopens after Hurricane Irma passes the area.
